Michael Girardot (‘08): Performer and Studio Musician

A performer and studio musician in many different acts, Michael has been an ever-present smile in the New Orleans rock scene since 2004. It wasn’t uncommon to see his energetic presence on stages five nights a week. A longtime advocate for New Orleans local rock acts, he created the Indie Rock Collective and the Foburg Festival, a much-needed outlet and exposure source for the city’s rock-and-roll.

Michael’s expertise as a keyboardist, vocalist, trumpeter, and songwriter have earned him a spot as one of the most highly sought-after musicians in Louisiana. In 2011, he joined The Revivalists, a New Orleans-based alternative group that tours the country. Having played major festivals such as Wakarusa and Forecastle, the group enjoys a dedicated fanbase for their energetic seven-member live performances. The Revivalists are currently promoting their latest studio album, Men Amongst Mountains, released July 2015.

When he isn’t touring with the Revivalists, Michael performs with Big Rock Candy Mountain, ZIM, Michael Girardot’s Macrofuns, and Rumpelsteelskin. He currently sits on Gambit’s Big Easy Awards nominating committee.
