Freshman and Transfer Student Requirements

Starting out: undergraduate requirements

Thinking about a degree in the arts? If you’re a freshman (with less than 11 hours of college-level credit and either a GED or high school diploma), here’s what you need to apply for admission:

  1. Completed Application for Loyola Undergraduate Admission.
  2. Either ACT* or SAT* official test scores (or both). Puerto Rican students should send the College Board PAA score.
  3. Official high school transcripts including class rank. Once you’ve completed your senior year, submit a final copy of your transcript.
  4. 500 word personal essay.
  5. Completed counselor/teacher evaluation form (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader) or a letter of recommendation.
  6. List of activities.
  7. Freshmen with college-level work should also submit official transcripts from every college attended.
  8. Complete College of Music and Fine Arts audition/interview/portfolio applications.

Transfer student? Here are your admission requirements:

  1. Completed Application for Loyola Undergraduate Admission.
  2. Two official transcripts from each college attended. A high school transcript is required if you have fewer than 30 hours.
  3. 300 word or less personal essay detailing why you want to transfer and what factors influenced you in your decision.
  4. Completed counselor/teacher evaluation form (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader) or a letter of recommendation from an employer or teacher.
  5. Resume displaying significant community involvement and demonstrated leadership abilities
  6. Complete College of Music and Fine Arts audition/interview/portfolio applications.

*Adult students without college credits who are 22 or older are not required to submit ACT or SAT scores. Contact your high school and request to have transcripts sent to the Office of Admissions.

Auditions and Interviews

The 2009-2010 Audition/Interview dates are:

  • December 5, 2009
  • January 16, 2010
  • February 6, 2010
  • Private auditions by appointment only are available during the President's Open House on Saturday, April 10, 2010.
