Loyola Theatre - The Laramie Project

Theatre Arts + Dance Auditions

Show us your stuff!

Students interested in majoring in Theatre Arts can choose one of two tracks:

  • an emphasis in acting
  • an emphasis in the business and technical aspects

An interview with the Theatre Arts admissions committee is required for both tracks.

The 2009-2010 Audition/Interview dates are:

  • December 5, 2009
  • January 16, 2010
  • February 6, 2010

While we hope to see you on campus, we understand that is sometimes not possible.  We do accept DVD auditions, which can be mailed to the Office of Admissions. March 1 is the deadline for first-year applicants to submit a portfolio and audition and receive consideration for both admission and scholarship.

After March 1, recorded auditions and portfolios will be considered for admissions only.  Transfer student recorded auditions and portfolios are accepted on a rolling basis for admissions and scholarship.  Please note that no admissions decision will be rendered until the audition/portfolio requirements have been fulfilled.

To schedule your audition on one of these dates, you must fill out an audition/interview/portfolio application.

The requirements for each:

Acting Audition

  • Audition for students interested in performance
  • 3 minute monologue
  • Monologue may be contemporary or classical, and dramatic or comedic.

Theatre arts portfolio review

  • Primarily for students interested in design, technical theatre, or management.
  • Portfolio should consist of the presentation of any design/technical experience and/or any drawings, crafts, paintings, prompt scripts, or photos.

Minors in theatre arts and dance require an audition and/or interview.
