Alternative Music Teacher Certification

The Alternative Music Teacher Certification program is offered through the College of Music and Fine Arts in partnership with Our Lady of Holy Cross College.

Requirements for Admission

To be considered for the Alternative Teacher Certification Program, a candidate must:

  • Complete and submit an Application for Admission.
  • Submit two official copies of transcripts from each post-secondary institution attended to confirm completion of a Bachelors degree in Music from a regionally accredited university.
  • Submit official ETS score report for the Praxis I, ACT, or SAT Exam.
  • Submit official ETS score report for Praxis II Music Content Area.
  • Submit a letter of a recommendation.
  • Submit a résumé displaying significant community involvement and demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Compose and submit a personal statement of 300 words or less detailing your reasons for wishing to enter the Alternative Music Teacher Certification Program at Loyola and what factors influenced your decision to apply.
