Loyola students launch Hearing Protection Project

Cori McGinn and Amy Pertuit, both graduating seniors from the Department of Music Industry Studies in the College of Music and Fine Arts at Loyola University New Orleans, have joined together to form the Hearing Protection Project, a new initiative designed to educate the Loyola community about the risks of hearing loss.

In an effort to promote the art of safe hearing through awareness, education and peer support, the project will hold its first fundraiser on Friday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Howlin Wolf, located at 907 S. Peters Street in the Warehouse District.

The event will showcase student bands, including Torgo, Jones Unleashed, Swiss Chriss and OSYM w/ DJ G-Cue. Tickets are $15 and available online through TicketWeb.

Proceeds from this event will help fund future events on Loyola’s campus, such as concerts, forums and seminars, as well as earplug dispensers, free customized sets of earplugs and hearing tests for students, faculty and staff.
