At Loyola University New Orleans’ Department of Film and Music Industry Studies (FAMIS), we never stop striving to adapt and update our courses and programs, striving to keep pace with rapid innovations in technology and prepare our students for the workforce and career realities of the 21st century entertainment industry.
Our mission and utmost priority is to produce graduates that are excited and well-prepared for versatile and sustainable careers in the music, film, entertainment, and creative fields.
In all that we do, we strive to be:
Professional. Collectively, our faculty boasts decades of experience not only in creating acclaimed audio and visual works, but also in navigating through the intricacies of their respective industries within leadership roles.
Ethical. No career can be sustainable in success without a solid foundation in ethics and morality, even in the cutthroat entertainment industry. We work to instill a sense of values and a consideration for others in each of our students and graduates.
Experiential. Through our student-run production and broadcasting companies, studio teaching assistants, internship program, and work study opportunities, we strive to give our students as much hands-on experience as we can. Our focus on developing employable and entrepreneurial skill sets is a critical part of our continued success.
Plugged in. Through our weekly Arts & Entertainment Industry Forum, alumni outreach program, required student internship program, and the ongoing industry relationships our faculty have cultivated through their own careers, we’ve fostered a proactive community of professionals and organizations with ample opportunities for students and graduates - both locally in Louisiana and across the nation.
Intimate. We work to cultivate a close-knit community of students, faculty, and alumni where everyone is welcomed and encouraged to participate. In every decision we make as a department, we place the needs and interests of our students before all else.
Cutting-edge. We constantly update our course offerings and degree programs to reflect industry and technology trends, tailoring each of our degrees to cultivate the critical creative and business skills that employers nationwide are seeking.
