Short Bio

Elizabeth Messina Floyd has been associated with the Loyola Music School since 1978 when she enrolled in the Loyola Preparatory Music Program as a student of Janet Swanzy. After completing her degree in Piano Pedagogy she joined the Prep Program as a piano instructor and in 2006 took over as Director. In addition to her administrative duties in the Prep Program, she teaches Class Piano, Piano Pedagogy and maintains an active private studio. Her students have been recognized for awards at both the local and state levels. Prior to joining the Loyola Faculty she taught at the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts and Southeastern Louisiana University.   Mrs. Floyd also enjoys a career as a jazz vocalist and performs regularly at numerous venues in and around the New Orleans area. She is a certified member of Louisiana Music Teachers Association and Music Teachers National Association and currently serves as Vice-President for the New Orleans Music Teachers Association. She has been with the Loyola College of Music and Fine Arts since 1996.
